A tribute to one of favorite musician, Mathangi Maya Arulpragasam. (Known as M.I.A)
Love Tamil was inspired by some of Arulpragasam’s graphics design from 2001.
At Cocopunkz, we believe in uniqueness and individuality. Hence each pair of shoes is hand painted with care and each pair of shoes has its own story and meaning.
These shoes will go well with:
-Bomber Jacket, long t-shirt and bold hues leggings
-Hot Pink Boyfriend blazer with black leggings
-Graphic hooded sweater, grey skinny jeans
There will only be one pair of Love Tamil. Get them before they’re gone.

Being a hero is not hard! Here’s how:
1) Show your pretty face at the Typhoon Ondoy Fundraiser on Tuesday Oct 6, 2009 at Box Studios (1622 Frankin Street)
2) Bid on the pair of custom Cocopunkz that we donated for the silent auction
3) Enjoy envious stares when they announce your winning bid for our one-of-a-kind hand-painted shoes!

It doesn’t get fresher than this! Just finished custom hand-painted shoes:
First off, a mix of Raincity and Obsession by Ada.

Then we’ve got a reversed version of Peonies, Nightfall by Miranda

And finally, Miranda’s (failed) watercolor effect test project:

Not only was I unable to achieve the watercolor effect I was hoping for, but these were also one of the most time consuming pairs I’ve worked on ever! The headpieces on the girls head were so intricate and detailed that I my face was literally 6 inches away from the surface of the shoe the whole time. It didn’t help that I saw a whole buncha cheap mass-produced printed-on canvas shoes at the shopping centre today (some were just awful, though the Reebok ones were kinda cool)…not a big bang for a whole lotta work. Never again will I work on something this intricate unless my reward is a three hour massage at the spa to alleviate the resulting back-pain. But I did enjoy wearing them today though!

Art and functionality collided in Grace Gallery’s latest group exhibition on August 14. Here are some pics of our shoes that we exhibited at The Shoe Show (part of the Olio Festival).

Once in a while, I like to mix patterns. So for the second post of how we wear our shoes, I decided to mix a little animal print with stripes. A little pattern never hurt anyone, right?

It’s been a while since our last sneak peek! Here’s what we’ve been working on:

This pair was done for Cindy who wanted something one of a kind as her best friend’s birthday gift. The theme of these shoes is cherry blossoms. In the background, you see peonies done in Chinese paper cut outs style. This was taken as the shoes were near completion. After this shot, I added further details to the cherry blossoms and added pearl accents.

This pair by Ada was created for Emilie who will be wearing them on her wedding day to match a beautiful white and green gown! The shoes are based on Ada’s Raincity but instead of the waves, abstract hearts were incorporated into the design.

This pair was done for Sheila who was one of the winners of our “Submit Your Own Design” contest!
Here’s the original sketch:

Stay tuned for our next sneak peek!

A little peek of the shoes I’m working on:

Custom pair of shoes for an etsy order. (Ink Flared II) Doing this pair with blue and purple instead of green and purple. Cute eh?

This is a pair I’ve been working on for Ada. They’re not finished yet though…
